Welcome to the South Auckland Christian Foodbank (SACFB). We are a charitable trust formed in August 2008.
Our Purpose: To improve the quality of life for families in South Auckland and surrounding areas. We do this by assisting families with food, personal care items, providing and or facilitating budget advice and the provision of other needs as required. Todo this we provide the following services.
We deliver food-parcels out of our purpose built warehouse in Mangere to our clients. We aim to provide well rounded food-parcels with everything from drinks to vegetables. A unique service we offer food-parcel delivery, this allows families with already stretched budgets to forgot about having to spend money to pickup their food.
We have recently started a new initiative called "FoodSave". We have been working with supermarkets, lunch bars and food manufacturers to collect best before food, damaged packaging or cancelled orders.
We offer a weekly community dinner to the recipients of our food parcels as well as extending it to the clients of our partners. The dinner is set up such that it is a family times with games and tables available for children prior to the meal. The feedback we receive is extremely positive and we often have to close the doors as we reach out capacity.
Each December we provide a Christmas dinner for those we have helped during the year. This is a typical Christmas affair with a cooked ham and turkey meal and presents for the Children.
