Many thanks, the family responded and were very grateful. They have been going through a lot for the last year and found it hard to “Ask”. Your services are really valuable, we get the thanks, but the reality is the work you do is so much appreciated and many thanks must go back to your Food Bank. Thanks for the generosity and the late hours you work. May God continue to bless you and the Food Bank. John - Social worker Manurewa I would like to take this opportunity express my sincere gratitude to South Auckland Christian Food Bank (SACFB) Team who has supported the families I worked with since I started in this position in 2015 and their on going support. SACFB have provided the same support even prior to this time for many years and it was a privilege know them and receive this help for families in and around South Auckland. This assistance has been used in many ways to improve the quality of life for our families, especially the stress they encounter when there is no hope. SACFB team and their work in this area bring hope and strength for families to not give up and make the sustainable changes. I would like to name a few of these scenarios where this help had given families hope, confidence to make changes and take control of their financial difficulties. Olivia- Financial Mentor Manurewa |

Good Morning, A few years ago, I was in hardship and needed help. Ian and his wife visited our home and presented us with a gift that really touched my heart and to this day I have not forgotten the generosity, love and kindness shown at a time in my life as a solo mum where I desperately needed the help. I am working now and would like more then anything to share this with others therefore would like to offer a hand to help. Whether it be time, food - anything that we may have and are able to share. I am a cook/baker full time at home and full time office worker also so please do let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Coming up Christmas is always a challenging time for families to provide for their children. I would like to ask if I can come in on a day/evening to meet with Ian or anyone who participates in this group. I look forward to hearing from you. Solo Mum in Need The service that SACFB provide is invaluable to our community. They meet physical needs through providing food and meals. They are also breaking poverty cycles through educating and supporting people around finances, and through the other programmes they offer. The families that contact us for food parcels are often desperate, feel ashamed and in difficult situations beyond their control. Through the staff at SACFB they are met with, kindness, patience and the support needed to help them get back on their feet. Our organisation (PACT) has been able to refer families that we are working with to the services of SACFB to help meet needs we were unable to meet. This has seen more clients receive more support. SACFB run a free weekly community dinner based at our building. This sees on average 75 people receive a meal and connect with other people and families in the community. This is one community event that brings people together, meets practical needs and helps create the kind of South Auckland we can be proud of. PACT Papatoetoe |
