Welcome to the South Auckland Christian Foodbank (SACFB). We are a charitable trust formed in August 2008.
We have been privileged to serve families in genuine need for the past 16 years
Our Purpose: To improve the quality of life for families in South Auckland and surrounding areas. We do this by assisting families with food, personal care items, providing and or facilitating budget advice and the provision of other needs as required. To do this we provide the following services.
Food Parcels
We deliver food parcels out of our purpose-built warehouse in Manukau City to our clients and the 45+ Social Service agencies in the community & Government agencies and others that have people in genuine need. We provide well-rounded food parcels with everything from family and individual needs. A unique service we offer food-parcel delivery, this allows families with already stretched budgets to forget about having to spend money to pick up their food. Financial Literacy/Capability
Our Financial Capability course was created by Massey University (Fin-Ed Centre) and is facilitated by our specialist facilitator. The course includes; Staying within budget with the money they have, smart shopping, maintaining a budget, and smart choices when borrowing money, this service and program will empower families. It is a 4-week course that is run at our building. Clients wanting an individual budgeter to work with them are referred to the best agency to suit the client's needs SACFB has an excellent relationship with many of these agencies. FoodSave
We are very grateful to have great relationships with many food suppliers supermarkets and churches that donate food to us, our food save operation collects this food and gets it ready for redistribution on our food parcels. A lot of the food is close to date, damaged packaging or cancelled orders, either way, we use it and it saves food otherwise destined for landfill. |
Community Dinners
We offer a weekly community dinner to the recipients of our food parcels, and anyone in the community in need. It is a safe environment where families/Individuals can enjoy a nutritious meal and dessert. Feedback from attendees and agencies is extremely positive. This has been in operation since 2009. Budgeting Service
Located in central Manukau our budgeter has been fully trained by the budgeting federation. She provides budgeting advice for our clients in Otara, Manukau and Papatoetoe. We continue to collaborate with other budgeting services in South Auckland Christmas Dinner
Each December we provide a Christmas dinner for those we have helped during the year. This is a typical Christmas affair with a cooked ham and turkey meal and presents for the Children. |
